Stand Up Stick up celebrates one year anniversary
Press Releases

LYNN — The Vault Theater was filled with laughter Thursday night, as the monthly show Stand Up Stick Up celebrated its one year anniversary, with a headline performance from Boston comedian Chris Tabb.

Showrunner Steven Foley said that one year ago, the Lynn Music Foundation approached him and asked if he would want to run a stand up comedy show here in Lynn. Foley being a fan of comedy, and owning his own video production company, jumped on the opportunity.

Jamie Ayrd performs a stand up set at the Vault Theater.

“(The comedy show) is just another way to help advertise other aspects of the programming and just the general artistry and art scene around the area,” Foley said.

Foley holds a show once a month in the theater, featuring new talents every time. Early on, Foley joined forces with Boston comedian Jamie Aird to book the talent.

Aird has been in the comedy scene for a while now, and said he looks to bring something different to every show.

“I mostly look for people who I think would work for this room, like the type of people that (live) in Lynn,” Aird said.

With Lynn being a diverse city, Aird said he brings in comedians that come from all different types of backgrounds. He also adamantly works on including talent from minority groups such as people of color,  the LGBTQ+ community, or immigrants like himself.

“Tonight, it’s a little bit of a mix of everything,” Aird said about the one-year anniversary show.

The one-year anniversary show was hosted by Philadelphia, Penn. comedian Danya Trommer and included local rapper/musician Danny White; featured comedians Aird, Jay Martin, Maria Palombi, and Guerby Laguerre; and was headlined by Chris Tabb, who works as a full-time comedian.

Stand Up Stick up will hold its next show on April 25th.
